Everyone, well not everyone, perhaps only 80%, of patients want to know how to lose weight. Especially the older we get, the harder it is - fat comes on more easily and goes off slowly.
Our whole metabolism changes. Part of the problem is insulin. As we get older, insulin increases, and insulin is a FAT-storing hormone. It tells the body "store fat!", and as long as your body gets this message, it is extremely difficult to change, and weight doesn't budge. Of course, then we get insulin resistant, with diabetes not far behind.
So the first thing we must do as we age, is lower insulin. But how? The number one most important thing we must do to lower insulin is..... lower carbs! Carbohydrates increase insulin faster than anything else. I'm talking bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, fruit, sugar, muffins, pies, ice cream, and so on. Protein and fat do not have carbs, and will not invoke the insulin production that carbs do.
When we have a patient doing our weight loss program, we initially severely limit carbs. This causes a natural diuresis, so excess water comes off, and with it, bloating.
Then we have a secret ingredient up our sleeve, and that's called InSea.
InSea is the only product out there with a dual mechanism of action that slows carb digestion thru 2 different enzymes. This twofold activity reduces the impact, or insulin release, of high-glycemic foods (carbs).
Patients taking InSea 20 minutes before meals saw a significant weight reduction compared to those not taking, yet on the same diet. InSea , when taken before meals, was found to block up to 40% of carbs in that meal. Without affecting protein absorption. Does this mean you can eat anything? No! Still limit the amount of carbs, and after 3 PM try to have no more than 10gms of carbs. Time of day really does matter - we burn those calories much better when consumed earlier in the day. Have your biggest meal at breakfast or lunch, not dinner!
At our weight loss clinic, we also use lipotropic shots that increase metabolism, appetite suppressants when needed, supplements to help burn more fat, and other tools when needed. And of course, Coolsculpting works very well - freezes the fat to kill it! But if you're doing it on your own, limit the carbs to no more than 50gms a day, and try InSea - 20 mins before eating any carbs. And watch the fat come off.
